It seems apt that the absolute last prompt of the year is about holidays. I mean, ‘tis the season and all that, right? So of course when Kelsey suggested it, we all agreed! No limits as to which holiday we could right about, which for me meant bringing in one of my favourite occasions. Of course, whether or not it fit the brief is anyone's prerogative!
(In hindsight, the new novella I started recently also fits the prompt… Whole different tone to the short story I wrote, however! But I'm as excited to write it as I have been to share the prompt fill.)
I hope you have enjoyed all the prompt fills for the year, and keep enjoying everything the Author Avengers share on our pages. Happy Holidays!
[IMAGE DESCRIPTION: AUTHOR AVENGERS DECEMBER PROMPT Write about a holiday celebration - any holiday, real or imagined!]
INDEXKelsey Clarey - Cece-mas Aradhna Kaur (me!) - Light The Path Home
As always, any prompt fills going up after today will be edited in!
Cheers, Ara

About me and this blog

I'm not big on introducing myself, to be honest. But as I'm getting the hang of Tumblr, I thought I'd share a little something about myself and what this blog is all about. So, here's a quick rundown.
Ara : 25 / INTJ
(I'm not really into sharing my personality type, but I figured it's easier to show it rather than trying to explain it with words.)
English / 한국어 / 日本語
Twitter: @Ara_yashiki_ / YouTube: @Ara_yashiki_
I mostly talk about Naoki Urasawa's 'Monster' on this blog, but I can also randomly ramble about other stuff. Sometimes, you might stumble upon personal posts.
I'll go all out for what I love. Writing oneshots and analysis, drawing pictures, making videos, editing images, taking photos, sharing playlists, creating AI character bots, and doing translations. These days, my focus is mostly on making videos. Of course, I'm not one to rush things. I go through a lot of reviewing and contemplating before posting, so it might take a while before you see everything I'm working on.
I primarily use English on this blog. But I can switch to Japanese or Korean when necessary. When it comes to meaningless self-talk and sharing my translation work, I often switch to languages other than English.
Favorite character and OTP: Heinrich Lunge (Runge) & Grunge (Grimmer/Lunge)
I only take video requests at the moment. If you have a video idea you'd like me to work on, feel free to reach out to me in whichever way works best for you.

201224 Subin / Dalsooobin Interview for TenAsia (English)

[TenAsia = Tae Yuna, Seo Yejin] Subin, a former member of the girlgroup Dalshabet, who is appearing on MBN Entertainment's show <Miss Back> reflected on the year.
Subin said she has been extremely busy this year. In July, she appeared on MBN's trot competition program <Voice Trot> and sang Sim Soo Bong's songs enthusiastically. In the middle of the stage, she threw off her shirt and showed off an unconventional sexy concept, and the high note in the second half was naturally admired.
Since then, on <Miss Back>, in which former idols from girl groups take on new challenges as singers, as a 10-year singer and representative of a solo agency Dalsooobin Company, the members drew attention with their efforts day and night to obtain life songs.
Subin said, "Starting with <Voice Trot>, I started doing a lot of programs. While doing Miss Back, I am living with another person inside me. We've been resting a lot with Corona these days, but I've been busier than anyone else."
When asked why she challenged herself with the trot genre, Subin said, "I think that trot is a field that everyone who plays music should study, but I learned more than I thought. My musical perspective has expanded greatly and I have overcome a lot of my stage fright."

<Miss Back> drew a lot of attention before the broadcast. In the released teaser video, Gayoung, a former Stellar member, said she dreamed of becoming an innocent girl group member, but when there was no reaction, she said they transformed her image into an unconventional 19-year-old concept, causing controversy. Nada, a former Wassup member, confessed to have panic disorder and depression. Subin also ran an office in the side of her room due to financial issues, and even played sessions herself, causing some regrets.
Was there any pressure to appear on the show because it was somewhat provocative? "I've never been ashamed of my situation since I was young. Rather that, I was relieved", said Subin. "It was nice to be able to show that I'm actually living this kind of life, and that I'm a person who is having similar difficulties as everyone else. After the broadcast, I received more support than I expected. Many people said they didn't know I was this easy-going", she laughed.
As for the chemistry with <Miss Back> members, she said, "We all have similar personalities. They are orderly and introverted, but when we are gathered together, they brighten. They are warm people who make concessions, understand, and celebrate and mourn together. If I were to be in a girl group again, I'd like to be with the members. Even though I met them frequently during my idol activities, we didn't have the opportunity to get close to each other, but since the years we've been through are similar, I think our bond has gotten stronger now".
However, Soyeon, a former T-ara member, decided to leave the show after only four episodes, which was surprising to everyone. Subin said, "Soyeon still watch the broadcast these days and sends me messages of encouragement after watching it". She added, "On the first day when all the members was together for the first time, we gathered together and talked quietly, but Soyeon seemed like a strong support to everyone. I think she is still responsible for that feeling.”

Subin had a four-car collision on the 17th of last month (November). Although there were no major injuries, she was hospitalized for a week following the doctor's recommendation, receiving intensive treatment and discharged from the hospital. As a result, she was absent from the fourth life song challenge on <Miss Back>. The <Tantara> team with Yujin, Sera and Gayoung had to complete the stage without Subin.
Subin said, "I picked the members myself, organized the stage, and rapped for the first time, so of course I wanted to show a lot of things. I felt so sorry that I couldn't be there as their leader". She also said, "I was in doubt for a while. Since Dalshabet days, I was involved in a lot of accidents. It was even more unfair because there were many things that were not our mistakes. When I tried to run out, it felt like I was catching it from behind".
"But the good news is that even though I was away, the members filled the position. I was proud that they did much better than I was worried about. On the other hand, I think it was a signal to rest for me, who is working too hard these days".
When asked about the most memorable performance on the <Miss Back> stage, Subin said, "I have ground my bones on every stage. It was edited from the show, but there was a day when I practiced until 5 a.m., when I was practicing for <Tantara>. I was even scolded after an interim check, I practiced with tears on my eyes on that day. The time given to us is very limited. After that, there was nothing I could feel more proud about."
Subin then said, "Through <Miss Back>, I achieved my dream of directing a stage beyond producing an album. If I could do this during Dal Shabet, I think my attitude would have been a lot different. Since I was in charge of everything from one to ten, my sense of responsability grew even harder. I am thankful".

She also showed her love and affection for Dalshabet members. Subin said, "I've never won first place on a music show with Dalshabet. I've heard something from people: the members of Dalshabet were so close that they never got first place. They said there should be competition in the group for us to do well and that all members were so kind that we only wished for it. It is not easy for young ladies to live together for seven years. But we are the most important people in each other's lives, being so close is really a gift.
Subin then said, "When I cried on <Miss Back>, my unnies will contact me right away. I cried again as well. Because they know the meaning of tears reflected on the broadcast, they support me a lot".
"Right now we can't meet because of the Corona, but I'm contacting them regularly in our private group chat room. Since we have six birthdays in a year, we celebrate our anniversaries together. Jiyul has the same hobby as me, so we travel together, and I see Kaeun often because she's my neighbor".

Subin returned as an actor after a year with the web drama <Wish You: Your Melody in My Heart> released on the idol app on the 4th.
<Wish You> is a romance that melts musical sensibilities in the BL genre, and tells the story of singer-songwriter Kang In-soo (played by Kang In-soo) and keyboardist Yoon Sang (played by Lee Sang) struggling to achieve their dreams of music. Subin plays Lee Yoo-jin, a former member of a girl group who has absolute hearing.
"The BL genre was so fresh, and it was great to play with two handsome men", said Subin. Also, "The Yoojin character who understood their love was heartbreaking and cool. I heard it topped the download list in Japan. I think it's because Insoo and Lee Sang are popular in Japan. I'm also satisfied that the video came out so pretty. Next month, the director's movie version will be released on Netflix", she said, asking for support from everyone.
Subin appeared as a guest on the Ten Live show hosted by Ten Asia's YouTube channel TVTen on the 16th and showed off her extraordinary talking skills. Especially when asked if she has been asked out by more than five male celebrities so far, she said, "Of course, there are more than five. Since it's been 10 years since my debut, there was about 20 people. Excluding sports players", she said, drawing surprise. She evern confessed that she is 173.8 centimeters tall, not 175 centimeters tall.

When asked about her year-end plans, Subin said, "I travel with my family every year, but I think we will have a small meal this year" and "I prepared an album while filming <Miss Back>. I will tell you good news soon".
Regarding the new song, she said, "It's my first time doing a winter song. I put a lot of effort into it. The genre is ballad and it's a song that goes well with winter. My color is definitely there and I think listeners can say there's a new color in it."
What is the goal of Subin, who has been working as a singer and actor, for next year? "I want to dig deeper into what I'm doing now rather than new challenges. I'll show you my 10 years of music and acting!"

-like eugene, cares for everyone! especially ara, since space herself is the one who helps ara through tough times
courtney
-gets bored alot, just wants to work on the difficult abnormalities
-really snarky
johnson
-a smartass
-yet still a little friendly if they trust you

IPO - Now
Here’s the latest revision of my IPO for the second half of semester 2…
WHITI O REHUA - SCHOOL OF ART Independent Project Outline 213.341 Art Studio Research IPO template: Student Name: Anthony Fraser Student ID: 15221100 Amendment #: 3 Amendment date: 2/10/19 Rōpū Lecturers: Simon Morris & Jenny Gillham
Intent: (50-100 words):
To conduct an auto-ethnographic research-based inquiry into my own family situation, formulating responses that use whatever media seems appropriate. So far this has been photographic, but could use a variety of media. Some media that interest me and seem like they might be fitting of my purposes are print, sound and video. I feel that there is a natural progression from photography to these media, and I imagine that there could be a balance formed between archival material and work that I produce myself.
Background: (200-300 words):
Briefly describe what you did last semester, what you intend to develop from this work, and what (if anything) you are not going to continue to work with.
This past semester I’ve made photographic works that document and respond to aspects of my life that I consider to be quintessential parts of living in New Zealand. This work aimed to investigate aspects of New Zealand mainstream Pākehā culture, and to offer some kind of critique. I’m not sure entirely how successful this was, but as I learned more and developed more work, I became less interested in producing work that claimed any kind of finality in its assumptions, and less overtly critical. My more recent work was responding to everyday views from and within my domestic environment, and I’ve learned that questioning these more personal experiences seems more fulfilling, furtive and genuine than trying to critique larger cultural themes. My plan for the coming semester is to engage with matters that have personal emotional significance for me, and see what happens when I question them openly in a fine art context.
Method and resources: (100-200 words):
What do you intend to make (i.e., painting, sculpture, video, etc., etc.), and how (materials and processes). Do you need an individual studio space or can you use the shared space? What knowledge and skills do you need to gain, and what investigations do you plan to undertake?
I hope to produce photography, print media, and perhaps video and sound works to respond to lines of inquiry. I plan to investigate my own family history, recent and through further generations past, using the family archive and other archives if possible. Works responding to this research will hopefully come together in through an installation-based approach. There are still various avenues I intended to research that I haven’t yet had time for, such as a specific project researching my great-great grandfather’s job as a clown on National Radio. I’ll continue to use facilities all around CoCA, including the photography department, fine arts block, Te Ara Hihiko and perhaps more. I would like to develop my practice to being more installation-based and multi-media if I can find a way of combining these various media effectively. I need to continue my research into theories surrounding documentary, and other disciplines of art-making.
References:
Begin a list of a minimum of 6 references, four of which must be artists or artworks whose work is inspirational and whom you intend to continue to use to develop your own work, and two other references (text, music, film, other writing, etc.) Briefly describe how each reference is relevant to your own intended research.
Reference both texts and artwork images properly: you should use the system recommended for visual material on OWLL, which includes the artist’s name, the date of the artwork and a URL, book or exhibition note.
Edith Amituanai: #keeponkimiora
This book is very powerful. It is a documentary photographer getting to the heart of the politics of representation and taking an ethical approach to their field. Documentary photography has shady roots in New Zealand, and Amituanai is well aware of this. Furthermore, mainstream media organisations wield power when using various forms of representations (editorial, photographic, video), often to great harm. Amituanai is a voice singing another tune to the oft-negative representations of members of her community and communities like hers (non-Pākehā, low socio-economic, etc.). She provides positive images of people, often young people, in her community, gaining their trust, their consent, working with them to produce images they consider to be appropriate, together. She is an actively contributing to the decolonisation of New Zealand fine art spaces, and although this is not hat I intend my work to be about per se, role models like this are always in my mind whilst I’m making work. I wonder what Sontag or for that matter Spivak would have to say about her work.
Phillip Andrew Lewis: SYNONYM
This body of work responds to Andrew Lewis’ time in a drug rehabilitation centre where in his teens he was forcibly held against his will for 2 years. The organisation that held him is no longer in operation in the USA, but Andrew Lewis returned to multiple sites it used to run rehabilitation centres. Combining found objects, photography, graphic elements and performance-based works based on personal experience, Andrew Lewis has formed a large body of work in response to this.
Andrew Lewis employs a diverse range of media in his practice, which is surrounded by so many contexts. He investigates these physical, social, political contexts through various ways of making and curating. I plan to use a diverse range of media in my own work also.
Paul Pfeiffer: The Saints
Investigating British cultural identity through the emotionally charged arena of the football field, Pfeiffer manipulates scale in a highly effective manner. Playing recordings from the 2007 opening of Wembley Stadium of the crowd chanting various anthems throughout a largely empty gallery space, the viewer is immersed in the audio aspect of the work. There are some visual components, videos of football fans and matches from around the world, which add new layers of context. Pfeiffer’s careful process of selection will inform how I engage with the spaces I’m using, and which elements of works to include or edit out of installations.
Joanna Margaret Paul & Pascal Harris: Light on Things
This was an exhibition (and publication) of Joanna Margaret Paul’s work curated by her youngest son, Pascal Harris. It celebrates her work and life, yet is simultaneously drenched in the grief of a son for his mother. The exploration of these personal relationships though exhibition and printed matter has helped guide me through my own exploration of these matters in my work this semester.
Rachael Rakena: One man is an island
This and other works of Rachael Rakena have influenced what I’m making. The way she strips back the world that her subjects perform in, adding usually only one contextual element, gives her work a captivating presence. Keeping the strength of these aesthetics in mind, along with the personal nature of the content, will help to show me some direction when making work this semester. One can use personal stories to share ideas on larger narratives.
Amituanai, E. #keeponkimiora. Hastings: Hastings Art Gallery, 2018.
Andrew Lewis, Phillip. SYNONYM. Headlands Center For The Arts, San Francisco, 2017.

A colorful journey of being a FANGIRL /girl group EDITION/
Well.. this post is about me sharing some experience about my career in the KPOP world as a fangirl. It’s been 10 years since I became a fan so I’ll reminisce. The topic for this post is about GIRL GROUPS since I’ve only stanned few boy groups (but I’ll have separate appreciation post for that). Click that Keep Reading button :D

Disclaimer: This list and story are based on my experiences and personal preference. I’m not forcing anyone to like my opinion or to agree with me.
The Beginning
I’m a KPOP fan that started in 2009 because of the influence of 2ne1. Sandara Park is my idol before and when 2ne1 debuted I supported their songs, waited for their MVs to appear on Myx channel that we have in out TV because there is no Youtube that is available yet. I listened to their songs I don’t care and Fire. Then I have an older cousin who let me listen to 4 Minute’s songs like Mirror Mirror and Ready Go.

Then 2010 arrived, before the school year started I played with my guy friends and one of them let me listen to Girl’s Generation. Oh! is my favorite, I even stream it in youtube and listen to it repeatedly. Also I listened to Gee and even memorized the lyrics. When I am attending school, I had friends that are also KPOP fans and they influenced me to listen to Big Bang, the first Boy Group that I admired (I’ll tell my story on Boy Groups in another post). Then we fangirl to 2ne1 and Big Bang. We listened to I am the Best which is the hit song of the year and also Fantastic Baby (which is Big Bang’s). We dance to the song (I am the best).
I was a hardcore Black Jack when 2012 came and I had discovered a lot more groups. I continued listening to 2ne1, 4 minute and SNSD songs then adding to the group that I liked are f(x) with Hot Summer, After School with Flashback, Kara with Pandora, Miss A’s I don’t need a man also T-ara’s Bo Peep Bo Peep and SISTAR’s Loving U. I remember discovering these songs because MTV and Channel V has like this programs where they play MV’s of KPop groups. I downloaded all of the Girl Group songs in my phone (and also boy group of course) especially when I find it cute/charming/catchy and good. This craze continued until before all of these group disbanded/ had member(s) left. (Or maybe the rise of 3rd Gen Idols).
I’m almost ready to say that I’ll retire sooner or later since majority of the groups that I listen to has now disbanded or some members left (but still I’m hoping that they’ll do some reunion) /other reasons; I’m in college already so priorities/. This state (many 2nd Gen Groups disbanding/Hiatus) because its tough competition with the 3rd Gen; same case with Boy Groups. I like these 2nd Gen to 2.5 Gen groups (according to wikipedia) and I can say they became popular because of their hardwork not because they debuted under a popular company and became overrated and they have sincere music and to showcase their singing and dancing not just to become famous.
I’m sad to see these bands disband but I love that some still are going strong like EXID, APINK . But this implies that nothing goes forever and eveything changes. Time flies so fast, its like yesterday I’m listening to my pink ipod and now I’m writing this blog post and stating how I became a fan and how many years had passed.
This part, I’m going to put the girl groups that I have adored throughout the years. (no particular order)
2ne1 - My queens. One of the group that made a great foundation on why 3rd Gen groups are more popular than them now KPOP is famous globally. 4eva my favorite. Songs: Fire, I am the Best, Clap your Hands, I Hate you, Ugly, Missing you, I Love you, Gotta be you. /I won’t be able to list all my favorite songs of the groups because all of them are good even the B-sides maybe in a separate post?/
Girls Generation - My queens. All of their songs are bop tbh there is no song that made a hole in their career. From high heels to sneakers. Songs: Gee, Genie, Oh!, Run Devil Run, The Boys, I Got a Boy (tbh just check their youtube account and listen to all of their music).
4Minute - My queens. I LOVE THEIR SONGS EVERY COMEBACK IS A BOP. This group led me to continue the KPOP fangirl because I love their songs tbh every songs that I listen to its just a masterpiece. Songs: Muzik, Heart to Heart,I My Me Mine, Volume Up, Mirror Mirror, What’s you Name?, Watcha doin Today?, Hate, Crazy.
Kara - I love this group SO MUCH I started stanning them in Pandora Era because their MVs are always on the TV. The first song that I was able to listen to is STEP and that’s when I started to look forward to their songs. I even like their Japanese Songs! I downloaded their Fantastic Girls Album. Songs: Step, Mister (or Mr.), Lupin, Pandora, Damaged Lady, Cupid
f(x) - The first song that made me a MeU is Electric Shock + Sulli being in a drama with Minho of SHINee. Then I also enjoyed their song Hot Summer. I love their songs because it doesn’t have a typical genre that a girl group would be having but f(x) is special because they have such creative songs even their B-sides are a bop! Songs: Electric Shock, Chocolate Love (tho its not their song... I still love their ver. compared to SNSD’s), Hot Summer, Red Light, 4 Walls, Nu ABO, Pinnochio (Danger), Red Light Album and Pink Tape Album.
Sistar - I loveeeeee Sistar sooo soooo much. I have listened to a lot of their songs (Loving U being my favorite), dancing to their songs (to Alone, Loving You, Touch my Body). I know a handful of their title tracks because I always adore it.) Songs: Alone, Loving U, I Swear, Shake It , GIve it to Me, So Cool.
Girl’s Day - The first song that I heard and actually liked is Expectation where they had this dance with suspenders. I like the dance of this song even tho its a too much for my age. Then I listened to their songs such as Female President, Something, Darling which I also memorized the choreo of these songs. My favorite is also Minah which I always feel like we have the same eyes because we both have eye smile. Songs: Twinkle Twinkle, Don’t Forget Me, White Day, Expect, Female President, Darling, Something, Ring My Bell.
APink - I liked every APink song, every comeback I waited for them. I have seen their eras from cute to feminine to mature. I’m so happy that they are still alive and still doing some songs. Some recent songs are I’m so Sick and %%. Songs: I don’t Know, Hush, My My, BuBiBu, No No No, Mr. Chu, LUV, Remember, I’m So Sick, %%
Honorable Mentions:
1. EXID - recommended songs: Every Night, Up & Down, Ah Yeah, Hot Pink, L.I.E, DDD, Lady, I Love You
2. After School - recommended songs: Bang, Love Love Love, Shampoo, In the Night Sky, Flashback, First Love
3. Nine Muses - recommended songs: Ticket, Dolls, Wild, Gun, Glue, Drama, Hurt Locker.

8. STELLAR - recommended songs: Marionette, Fool, Vibrato, Mask, Sting

I’m a proud 2nd Gen Fan of the KPOP world.
